Dhanori, 8th March 2022: Due to the development of many large societies in the Porwal road area of Dhanori-Lohgaon, the population here has increased tremendously. As a result, there are frequent traffic jams on Porwal road, especially during morning and evening peak hours.

Local MLA Sunil Tingre has informed via Twitter that after regular follow-ups and threats to sit on hunger strike, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the parallel road to decongest the Porwal Road.

Tingre tweeted, “Before becoming the MLA of our Vadgaonsheri Constituency I had committed to people of Porwal road to developing a parallel DP road under section 205 of BPMC Act. After winning elections in October 2019 within 8 to 10 days I had visited the parallel DP road along with PMC officials to initiate the procedure under section 205. But seeing that no action was being taken on it, I had warned the administration to go on a hunger strike.

After this, the administration had proposed a 24 meter wide road from Dhanori under section 205 for approval by the City Improvement Committee of PMC. The proposal was also approved by the General Body of PMC soon after it was approved. The road development was facing difficulties due to the Corona period of the last two years as well as sloppy management in the PMC.

However, due to my continuous pursuit and warning of a hunger strike on February 24, 2022, as well as during the Assembly Session of Maharashtra, I have personally attended the City Improvement Committee and the General Body and approved the proposal.

This has paved the way for the long-awaited road. Also, my promise has been fulfilled. Work on the road is expected to begin soon and be completed as soon as possible. After that, the problem of traffic jams on Porwal road will be solved.”

He thanked Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, City Engineer Prashant Waghmare and Superintendent Engineer Yuvraj Deshmukh for this work and also to the President of Lohgaon Resident Welfare Association (LRWA) Sandeep Lokhande and all the members.
