Pune: Notices Issued To Pawana Lake Camping Sites For Violation Of Rules

Maval, 28th November 2023: In response to mounting allegations of regulatory violations at various camping sites around Pawana Lake, the Pune Rural police have taken decisive action, issuing notices to eight establishments offering tent accommodations in the area.
Pawana Lake, a sought-after weekend destination for visitors from Pune and Mumbai, has become a hub for amenities provided by local villagers, including restaurants and camping facilities. These sites offer a range of entertainment options, including music and games.
Tourists are drawn to this affordable destination, where packages priced at just Rs 800-1000 per person provide a night filled with various activities. As December approaches, this location gains even more popularity, particularly as a year-end hotspot.
Lonavala Rural police officials uncovered several establishments offering food and tent stays that were operating beyond the allowable hours, extending into the late night. Some of these establishments were also flagged for playing disruptive loud music, and instances of visitors consuming alcohol on the premises were observed.
Inspector Kishor Dhumal from Lonavala Rural Police stressed that their intervention is specifically aimed at addressing illegal activities, targeting establishments in violation of operating hour regulations and disturbing the peace with loud music. The legality of these establishments, he noted, falls under the purview of dam officials and relevant authorities with jurisdiction over the acquired land. The inspector reaffirmed their commitment to sustained vigilance and pledged to take appropriate actions against such infractions in the future.
In a parallel development last week, rural police took action against stalls operating beyond permitted hours at prominent locations such as Lonavala’s Tiger Point and Monkey Hill. Instances of visitors indulging in loud music and alcohol consumption were also documented at these locations.
