Pune: Now strict curfew in Sinhagad road area, shops open for only for few hours

Pune, April 8, 2020: After some areas in central and east Pune were sealed from Tuesday (April 7) due to a large number of Coronavirus positive patients, now similar restrictions have been imposed in areas along Sinhgad Road from today.
Police made announcements on speakers and closed several roads in Vadgaon Budruk, Dhayari, Narhe and Hingne. People were seen rushing to kirana shops and vegetable vendors, to stock necessary things.

According to Pune police officials, many Coronavirus positive cases have been detected in these areas also, hence now strict curfew is being imposed. There will be a restriction on the movement of people and vehicles. Shops selling essential commodities except medical stores will be allowed to open only between 9 am to 12 noon.

Pune Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad declared ‘Health Emergency’ in Pune on April 6 and sealed areas under Khadak, Swargate, Faraskhana and Kondhwa police stations. He also appealed people to keep stock of necessary things for at least seven days as strict curfew will be imposed in more areas where positive patients have been detected.

Now wearing mask made compulsory in Pune

As the number of Coronavirus positive cases are increasing day by day, Pune District Administration has made it mandatory for people to wear a mask all the time, if they are outside their homes.

Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram and Pune Police Jt CP Ravindra Shisve issued orders in this regard. “Mask can be made of cloth or three-layer mask (available in Medical shops). Any person outside his/her house has to wear the mask”, the order states.

There are government, private companies staffs who have to go out to perform duties. Then some people are going out to buy vegetables, milk or grocery items. Everybody has to wear a mask. If anybody is found without a mask, FIR will be registered against them for an offence under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant section of the Disaster Management Act.

10 deaths in the last 24 hours in Pune

In the last 24 hours, 10 Coronavirus COVID19 patients died in Pune. The total number of deaths has reached 16 now since the first Coronavirus positive case was detected on March 9. The total number of Coronavirus positive patients has increased to 196 in Pune district including 21 in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Also, 27 patients have cured and discharged until now in Pune district.

There was one new positive case under PCMC and the patient is a close contact of a Tablighi Jamaat member who has returned from Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi. Many areas in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have been sealed from where a large number of positive patients were found.

Meanwhile, total positive cases in the state have reached 1135. There were 117 new COVID19 positive cases reported in Maharashtra today. Total number of #COVID19 positive cases has increased to 5274 in India (including 4714 active cases, 411 cured/discharged/migrated people and 149 deaths), according to Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
