Car Falls Into Pit in Varandha Ghat

Bhor, 29th September 2025: A car accident occurred early Sunday morning, around 2:30 am, in Shirgaon limits of Taluka Bhor, Varandha Ghat, on the Bhor-Mahad road. The incident, caused by the vehicle falling into a pit dug for laying a road culvert, claimed the life of one person and left another injured.

According to police, the Toyota car bearing registration MH 12 HZ 9299 was traveling from Bhor to Mahad when it fell into the pit, which had been dug for road widening and culvert installation. Preliminary reports suggest that poor visibility due to rain and fog contributed to the accident.

The deceased has been identified as Rahul Vishwas Pansare, 45, a resident of Mumbai. The injured, Rahul Devram Mutkule, 32, has been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Mahad, Raigad, for treatment. The two were reportedly traveling to Ganapatipule.

Bhor Police, led by Inspector Annasaheb Pawar, along with Constables Ganesh Ladkat, Sunil Chavan, Ajay Salunke, and Dnyaneshwar Shedge, reached the accident site, recovered the body, and sent it for autopsy at the Bhor Sub-District Hospital. Local residents, along with Police Patil Shankar Parthe and Vakratund Crane Service personnel, assisted in the rescue operations.

Bhor Police have registered the case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution on ghat roads, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
