Pune: Parents Oppose 45% Fee Hike at Bishop’s School Undri, Seek Rollback

Undri, 15th April 2026: A section of parents from the Lower Kindergarten (LKG) division at a Bishop’s school in Undri has formally opposed a recent fee revision, alleging irregularities in its calculation and a lack of transparency from the school administration.

The parents stated that they account for over 25% of the LKG parent body, meeting the requirement under the Maharashtra Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fee) Act, 2011, to file an official appeal.

The group has questioned the basis of the fee increase, claiming that the school applied a 15% hike on the Nursery fee structure instead of the previous LKG fees. According to them, this has resulted in an effective increase of around 45–47% for students moving into LKG.

Parents have termed the hike “unjustified” and have called for an immediate rollback of the revised fee structure. They have also sought a meeting with the school management and indicated that they may escalate the matter further if their concerns are not addressed.

As per fee details reviewed by parents, the annual LKG fee, which was approximately ₹1,10,000 in the academic years 2024–25 and 2025–26, has been increased to around ₹1,60,000–₹1,62,000 for 2026–27.

The school administration has reportedly maintained that the revision is in line with a 15% fee hike policy. However, parents argue that for those whose children are progressing from Nursery to LKG, the appropriate comparison should be the year-on-year LKG fee, which reflects a significantly higher increase.

Several parents said they had continued their child’s admission with the expectation that annual fee revisions would remain within a typical range of 10–15%. The sharp rise has led to dissatisfaction among families, with some now reconsidering their schooling options.

Parents have also called for greater clarity on how the revised fee structure has been determined and have urged the school administration to review and rationalise the increase.
