Pune: PCMC Announces Tax Relief Schemes for Women, Disabled and Ex-Servicemen
Pimpri, 7th April 2023: In the Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal limits, residential income in the name of women will receive a 30 percent general tax and a 50 percent discount for disabled persons. A 100 percent discount applies to ex-servicemen. Women, disabled, and ex-servicemen who benefited last year need not apply afresh. Furthermore, Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh has appealed to citizens to take advantage of various income tax relief schemes of the Municipal Corporation until 30th June.
The city has 5,97,785 properties, and last year, the Tax Collection Department collected revenue of Rs. 817 crore, a first in the municipality’s history. Under the guidance of Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Tax Collection Nilesh Deshmukh has already begun planning to reach the mark of Rs. 1,000 crores in the financial year 2023-24.
All service facilities, including the ability for citizens to pay taxes at home, have been made available online. Various discounts have been announced for citizens who pay tax until 30th June. Eco-friendly housing societies in the city should apply early to avail themselves of the concession. Doing so will allow these societies to benefit from the combined advantage of advance tax payment and environmental supplementary exemption.
The discounts include: five percent for advance income taxpayers, 30 percent for residential houses in the name of women only, 50 percent for properties in the name of blind, handicapped, mentally retarded, deaf, and dumb with 40 percent or more disabilities, 50 percent for a residential house of freedom fighters or their spouses, five percent for those paying online tax until 30th June and four percent for those paying from July to the end of September, two percent for self-registering properties under the ‘My Property My Assessment Scheme,’ two percent for setting up charging stations for electric vehicles and providing charging facilities for other vehicles, Defence Force gallantry 100 percent in tax to medal holders and ex-servicemen, and five percent in general tax to new residential, non-residential, mixed, industrial, open spaces, composting systems, STP plants, newly registered in the assessment book in the current financial year.
Moreover, a discount of five to ten percent has been announced for residential properties in buildings implementing the zero-waste concept.
Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh stated, “If the entire tax is paid by 30th June, a discount of a minimum of ten percent and a maximum of 20 percent is available. Citizens should take advantage of it. Citizens should pay the tax in advance to avoid a late payment of two percent for the next month.”
