Pune: PCMC Farmers’ Street Opens in Pimpri Chinchwad with Focus on Sustainability

Pimpri, January 4, 2025: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) Farmers’ Street event opened today at Linear Garden, Pimple Saudagar, offering fresh produce and local products. Organized by PCMC and Urbanly, the two-day event aims to promote sustainability and community engagement.

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh inaugurated the event, which features organic vegetables, fruits, natural cosmetics, and locally processed food items. Visitors can participate in free Zumba and yoga sessions, and enjoy live music, and children can play “Ranangan,” a game arranged by Mavala.

“PCMC Farmers’ Street bridges the gap between urban consumers and farmers, encouraging a healthier lifestyle,” said Commissioner Singh. He invited citizens to support local farmers and entrepreneurs.

The event runs from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM today and tomorrow with free entry. It will conclude tomorrow in the presence of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap and Commissioner Singh.

Stallholders expressed appreciation for the initiative. Amit Saraf from Anuj Kitchen said it helps local vendors connect directly with customers. Shobha Rajale of Goodwin Organic Jaggery noted the enthusiasm for organic products.

Vaibhav Singh Chauhan, an IT professional from Pimple Saudagar, called the event significant, providing an opportunity to buy directly from farmers. Citizens are encouraged to attend and support the event’s success.
