Pune: PCMC Launches Second Round of ‘Special Mission Indradhanush’ Campaign to Boost Vaccination
Pimpri, 15th September 2023: The ‘Special Mission Indradhanush Campaign’ 2023 is underway in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area, with the first round completed in August.
The second round is scheduled to take place from September 11th to September 16th, 2023, followed by the third round from October 9th to October 14th, 2023. Vaccines help kids stay healthy and safe. But a new study found that kids who aren’t fully vaccinated can get sick or even die earlier than those who are fully vaccinated. The government wants to get rid of measles and rubella by December 2023.
To achieve this, the Central Government has started the ‘Special Mission Indradhanush 5.0’ program in all districts and Municipal Corporations in three phases starting from August 2023. This campaign aims to locate and vaccinate all children who haven’t received vaccines or have only received some, along with pregnant mothers.
As per Additional Director, Health Services, Family Welfare, Maternal Child Care and School Health Pune guidelines, “Special Mission Indradhanush Mission” 2023 is being implemented in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area. The first round has been completed on August 23. The second round will be held till 16th September and the third round will be held from 09th to 14th October 2023.

A state-level training session was held on July 4th and 5th, 2023, about this campaign. From July 10th to 15th, 2023, training was provided for senior and in-charge medical officers, P.H.N., senior ANM, ANM, and Asha volunteers of the municipality. All parents are urged to contact the medical officer at the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation hospital or the nearest dispensary if their children between the ages of 0 to 5 years have not received age-appropriate vaccinations. This free vaccination service is essential, and your cooperation is vital to make the campaign a success.
