Pune: PCMC Razes Unauthorised Billboard Erected in Punawale
Punawale, 23rd September 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Tuesday removed a 40ft by 30ft unauthorised advertising billboard, along with its supporting iron structure, from Tathawade Road in Vishnudev Nagar, Punawale.
The action was carried out by the civic body’s Sky Sign and Licence Department after officials found that the billboard had been erected without the mandatory permission. The drive was conducted under the guidance of deputy commissioner (Licence) Rajesh Agale.
The civic administration has been carrying out inspections across the city to identify and remove unauthorised advertising structures. In the past month, officials have also removed unauthorised hoardings from Tathawade, Thermax Chowk, a building housing Samarth Cooperative Bank and Survey No. 175/9 on Kalebhor Road in Chovisawadi.
Under Rules 244 and 245 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act and the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations (Sky Signs and Sky Signboards) and Advertisement Display Regulation and Control Rules, 2022, prior permission from the civic body is mandatory for erecting an advertising hoarding, including on private land.
The civic administration said unauthorised hoardings affect the city’s aesthetics and also result in loss of revenue to the municipal corporation. The Sky Sign and Licence Department has therefore intensified inspections and action against such structures.
The PCMC has warned advertising agencies against putting up unauthorised hoardings within the municipal limits. Officials said any such structure found without the required permission would be removed immediately.
