Pune, March 25, 2020: Now you will get fresh vegetables every day in your neighbourhood. That too at cheaper rates than what was being sold in the market till yesterday.

This has become possible as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has allowed farmers to directly sell their farm produce to customers. The decision was taken as traders at Marketyard, the largest wholesale market from where retailers buy vegetables has refused to do business due to Coronavirus outbreak.

According to PMC Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad, everyday morning and for some time in the evening, farmers will be allowed to sell vegetables and fruits at weekly market places and Mandai. There will be stalls at 2-4 places in every ward.

Due to lockdown, there was a huge rush at Marketyard on Tuesday. And later it was closed by the traders association fearing Coronavirus outbreak.
