Bavdhan, 28th June 2025: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have arrested a fake godman (Baba) who allegedly exploited the faith of his devotees for money and sexual favours. The accused, identified as Prasad Dada alias Baba, full name Prasad Dada Bhimrao Tamdar (age 29, resident of Sus Gaon, Mulshi), was arrested earlier today after a case was registered at Bavdhan Police Station.

According to sources in the police department, the accused projected himself as a divine figure and manipulated his followers by claiming to possess supernatural powers. He is accused of duping several people, both men and women, out of thousands and even lakhs of rupees, while also promoting regressive ideologies like patriarchy and misogyny under the guise of spiritual guidance.

The fake Baba reportedly offered to solve personal and financial problems by giving specific instructions to devotees, claiming that following them would improve their lives. To gain their trust, he would reveal private family details, information he allegedly sourced through various undisclosed means.

After winning over their confidence, he instructed his followers to install a mobile application named ‘Air Dried Kid’, through which he reportedly gained remote access to their phones. He allegedly manipulated them into performing obscene acts of a sexual nature and instructed them to record these acts on their own devices. It is suspected that he accessed these videos through the app.

In addition to this, he frequently demanded money from his followers, often under the pretext of helping his so-called ashram. So far, five people have officially come forward, but police believe there may be many more victims.

The case was registered following a complaint by a 39-year-old resident of Dehu Road. Charges have been filed under sections 318 (cheating) and 75 (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act of 2000, and the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil, and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act of 2013.

Senior Police Inspector Anil Vibhute, in-charge of Bavdhan Police Station, told Punekar News, “The fake Baba has been arrested. A case of cheating has been registered against him. Four individuals have already submitted official complaints, and we expect more victims to come forward. We urge anyone who has been exploited by the accused to visit Bavdhan Police Station and file a complaint.”
