Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Arrests Four, Seizes Firearms In Rahatani

Pimpri Chinchwad, 3rd October 2023: The Anti-Extortion Squad has arrested four individuals and seized a cache of firearms and ammunition, including five pistols and ten cartridges. 

The arrested suspects have been identified as Aslam Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Thergaon; Sachin Uttam Mahajan, a resident of Surwad, Taluka Indapur; Santosh Vinayak Natu, a resident of Swargate, Pune; and Rahul, also known as Khandu Ganpat Dhavale, a resident of Pimpalgaon, Taluka Daund.

According to DCP (Crime) Swapna Gore, policemen Ramesh Gaikwad, Ganesh Girigosavi, and Vijay Nalge were patrolling in Rahatani when they received a tip about an individual at Jagtap Dairy Chowk allegedly possessing a weapon. The police acted swiftly, setting up a trap that led to the apprehension of Aslam Sheikh and the seizure of a pistol.

Further interrogation of Aslam Sheikh led to the arrest of his three accomplices and the confiscation of four more pistols and ten cartridges. The total estimated value of the seized firearms and ammunition is Rs 2.55 lakh.

Sachin Mahajan, Santosh Natu, and Rahul have prior criminal records and are implicated in various cases, including robbery, murder, attempted murder, kidnapping for ransom, causing grievous harm, and illegal possession of firearms.
