Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Crack Rs 11 Lakh Stock Market Fraud Case, Transfer Suspects to Karjat Police Custody
Pimpri Chinchwad/Karjat, 5th July 2024: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate’s (PCPC) Cyber Cell has apprehended two individuals for defrauding citizens under the guise of promising high returns in the stock market. The suspects were implicated in a case involving the embezzlement of over Rs 11 lakh from a victim. They were identified in a case filed at Karjat Police Station and handed over to the authorities there.
The arrested individuals, Satish Suresh Bundele and Paresh Gulab Biradwade, both residents of Chinchwad, were nabbed by the Cyber Cell.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doifode provided details, stating that Suraj Shinde, a constable from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Cyber Cell, received information about a person frequently bringing others to the bank to open accounts. Suspecting foul play, the police investigated the account holder, Satish Bundele, who was taken into custody. During questioning, Bundele revealed that his associate, Paresh Biradwade, had instructed him to open the account and had transferred money online for this purpose. Subsequently, Biradwade was also detained.
Upon interrogation, it was discovered that the duo had enticed an individual from Karjat into investing in the stock market, promising significant returns. The victim was swindled out of Rs 11,75,000. Following their involvement in this crime, both suspects were transferred to Karjat police custody. Concurrently, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Cyber Police conducted a parallel investigation.
The accused utilized multiple bank accounts for their cyber fraud operations, leading to 40 complaints nationwide against these accounts.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Chaubey, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doifode, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr. Vishal Hire, Assistant Police Inspector Praveen Swami, Police Sub Inspector Sagar Poman, Police Sub Inspector Ravindra Panhale, and Police Constables Deepak Bhosale, Atul Lokhande, Nitesh Bichewar, and Suraj Shinde.
