Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Organize ‘Smile Cyclothon’ Rally to Promote Drug-Free Lifestyle on International Day Against Drug Abuse
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 28th June 2025: Over 400 cyclists participated in the ‘Smile Cyclothon’ organized by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Squad and Smile De-addiction Centre, Urse, to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse. The event aimed to spread awareness about the dangers of drug addiction and promote a drug-free lifestyle among citizens.
The rally was flagged off at 6:30 am by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime-1) Dr Vishal Hire at the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC). Cyclists covered a distance of 21 kilometers, riding from the Commissionerate to the Smile Foundation in Urse village, Pune. The event saw enthusiastic participation from representatives of various social organizations and local residents, all united in delivering a strong message of de-addiction and healthy living.
The Smile Cyclothon was organized under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Sarang Awhad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3)!Dr. Shivaji Pawar. The rally also featured prominent personalities such as Smile De-addiction Centre founder Harshal Pandit, renowned cyclist Suraj Bhat, and Ironman Kazakhstan participant Dhanraj Helbe.
