Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Woman Tries to Mediate Fight, Gets Assaulted by Strangers
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 19th July 2025: A bizarre incident unfolded in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where a woman who tried to mediate a quarrel between a man and a woman ended up getting assaulted by a group of 6-7 bystanders. The incident took place at Shagun Chowk in Pimpri on Thursday night.
The woman later filed a complaint at the Pimpri Police Station. Four individuals, including Irfan Shaikh (18), Jayesh Ghongade (18), and two minors, all residents of Pimpri, have been arrested. A case has also been registered against 2-3 unidentified individuals.
According to police reports, the complainant was at Shagun Chowk when she noticed a man and a woman engaged in a heated argument. As she attempted to intervene and resolve the dispute, she was unexpectedly attacked by a group passing by. The attackers allegedly beat her with an iron pipe and assaulted her with punches and kicks, resulting in injuries to her legs, elbow, and chest.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the attackers may have been known to the man involved in the initial argument. However, the exact reason for the assault, as well as the cause of the original altercation, remains unclear. Police Sub-Inspector Ajinkya Jadhav is investigating the case further.
