Nigdi, 13th July 2026: An Assistant Police Inspector (API) attached to the Chakan North Police Station under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has been booked by the Pune Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding a bribe of ₹10 lakh to settle and dispose of two property-related complaints.

The accused public servant has been identified as Tanaji Shivaji Kadam (Class-2), a resident of Ravet, Pimpri Chinchwad. Kadam is originally a native of Gadegaon in Barshi Taluka, Solapur District.

According to official ACB sources, the complainant, a 54-year-old male, is engaged in the land purchase and sale business in the Pune region. Two separate complaint applications had been submitted against him and his son at the Chakan North Police Station in connection with their real estate operations. API Tanaji Kadam was assigned to conduct the official inquiry into these complaints.

Kadam allegedly offered to settle the matter by representing to his senior officers that the disputes were purely civil in nature and should be disposed of. However, to do this, he demanded a bribe of ₹10,00,000 from the complainant on behalf of his superiors. Unwilling to comply with the corrupt demand, the complainant approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Pune and lodged an official complaint on May 13, 2026.

Following the complaint, the ACB Pune unit set up a verification operation on May 13, 2026, at the Shrikrishna Veg Hotel, located in Sector 25, Nigdi, Pune. During this verification, API Kadam initially reiterated his demand for ₹10,00,000, but after negotiations, agreed to settle for ₹5,00,000. It was mutually decided that the bribe would be paid in two installments: an upfront sum of ₹2,50,000, and the remaining ₹2,50,000 after the complaint applications against the complainant and his son were officially cleared.

Following a comprehensive probe and verification of the bribe demand, the formal process of registering a case (Crime Register No. 446/2026) against API Kadam under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was initiated today at the Nigdi Police Station.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Shirish Sardeshpande (Superintendent of Police, ACB Pune Range), Ajit Patil (Additional SP, ACB Pune), and Arjun Bhosale (Additional SP, ACB Pune). The initial verification was conducted by Police Inspector Shailaja Shinde, while Police Inspector Pravin Nimbalkar is leading the ongoing investigation.
