Pune 16th Oct 2023: The Bombay High Court has passed an order in favour of Pune Municipal Corporation and the state government of Maharashtra regarding historic Bhide Wada where the administration aims to build a memorial. The Minister of Higher and Technical Education of Maharashtra confirmed the development and said that this a historic win for the citizens of Pune.

“The advocate general presented the government’s stand effectively in the court due to which the high court has given a verdict in favour of making Bhide Wada a national memorial. I had met the advocate general in January after the government approved funds to build the memorial and apprised him of the government stand on the matter. I had been trying for this during my tenure as guardian minister of Pune” Patil said.

The development of the first girl’s school was stuck in a court matter between the original land owner and the administration. The state government earlier announced plans to build a national memorial at this place but the matter was pending before the court. However, with the high court giving order in favour of the state government and the Pune Municipal Corporation, the road to transform the girl’s school into a national memorial is now clear.
