Pune, 18th October 2025: Pune Municipal Commissioner took strict action on Saturday after inspecting the Shewalwadi and Manjari areas under the Hadapsar Ward Office, where he found serious lapses in cleanliness, drainage management, encroachments, and pothole repair.

Angered by the unsanitary conditions and careless work, the Commissioner issued a stern warning to the officials saying, “Work or stay home.”

Following the inspection, the Assistant Commissioner of Hadapsar Ward Office, Balasaheb Dhawale-Patil, was transferred immediately, and Executive Engineer Ravi Khandare has been appointed in his place.

In addition, the Branch Engineer of the Sewerage Department, the Health Inspector of the Solid Waste Department, and the Mukadam have been suspended for unsatisfactory performance during the inspection.

Previous Transfers Over Inefficiency

Just two days ago, Assistant Commissioner Sheetal Wakade and Deputy Engineers Vinayak Shinde and Ganesh Puram were also transferred following similar complaints regarding inefficiency in the Wagholi area under the Nagar Road Ward Office.

During Saturday’s inspection, the Commissioner also expressed displeasure over the lack of cleanliness along the Pune–Solapur Highway dividers and instructed the staff to ensure immediate improvements.

Commissioner’s Firm Stand

The Commissioner stated that all officers must work with accountability and urgency to resolve issues related to cleanliness, drainage, and encroachments, warning that strict action will be taken against any negligence.

“This is not just about departmental work — it’s about citizens’ convenience and maintaining civic standards,” the Commissioner emphasized.

Fear Among Defaulting Officials

The latest action has created an atmosphere of alertness and fear among negligent officers, with the administration now showing its intent to ensure better civic management across Pune.

Citizens in the Hadapsar and Nagar Road areas are hopeful that such prompt measures will finally lead to improved cleanliness and infrastructure conditions.
