Pune, 22nd November 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified its crackdown on illegal constructions, launching a large-scale anti-encroachment drive in Katraj, Kondhwa and Mundhwa. The operation, led by the civic body’s encroachment department, aims to clear unauthorized structures that have proliferated in several pockets of the city.

A major action was carried out near Mahaveer Chowk in Kakade Vasti, located in the Swami Samarth Nagar area along the Gangadham–Katraj Road. Civic officials and workers arrived early in the morning with demolition teams and immediately began removing unauthorized buildings and other encroachments.

Residents gathered in significant numbers as the operation progressed. To prevent any disturbance, police personnel were deployed across the area, ensuring that the demolition work continued smoothly and without incident.

According to PMC officials, the current phase of action is part of a wider effort to curb illegal developments in rapidly expanding neighbourhoods. Similar operations are expected to be conducted in other parts of the city in the coming days as the civic body steps up its enforcement measures.
