Pune: PMC Officials Face Notice Over Delay In Acting On Woman Officer’s Harassment Complaint

Pune, 10th June 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Health Department has issued notices to two senior officials, questioning their inaction on a harassment complaint filed by a woman officer against a BJP leader.
In January 2025, a female officer from the PMC’sHealth Department had submitted a written complaint to the Municipal Commissioner and the Chief Health Officer, alleging mental harassment by BJP’s Labour Alliance city president, Omkar Kadam. She had also approached the PMC’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) for redressal. Despite this, no timely action was taken, and the alleged harassment reportedly continued.
Frustrated by the inaction, the officer escalated the matter to the Maharashtra State Commission for Women. Taking serious cognizance of the situation, the Municipal Commissioner has now barred Kadam from entering PMC premises.
Following this move, PMC’s Chief Health Officer has served notices to Assistant Health Officer Dr. Sanjeev Wavare and ICC Chairperson Dr. Kalpana Baliwant, asking them to explain why the woman officer’s complaint was not addressed in time. The notice demands a formal explanation for the delay in taking appropriate action.
