Pune, 19 April 2021: In a bold step, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to start the Covid care centre in every nook and corner of the city.

To overcome the challenge of no availability of bed or hospital or doctors, the PMC has decided to rope in the private doctors to provide the care while the civic body will pay for it. PMC has appealed to the private doctors to come forward and join hands to create the Covid centres and needed equipment like oxygen beds, ICU among others.

Patients are suffering due to lack of hospitals, at the same time, the death due to corona too is rising. In such a situation, PMC is trying to provide medical care for its citizens right in their lane or near their residence.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Rubal Agarwal said, “We will ensure that the doctors or infrastructure given to such centres will be adequate. We are ready to help in all possible areas for such centres”.

PMC assistant health chief Dr Sanjeev Wavare said, “The PMC health department will give permission for starting of such covid care centres after a strict inspection. The centre can be started at vacant places or in a building. It should have atleast 100 beds. NGOs or doctors’ forums should come forward to run such centres.”
