Pune: PMC Presents Rs 7650 Crore Budget, Will Take Help Of Private Players For Development Works

Pune, January 29, 2021: Despite financial crisis due to Covid-19 pandemic, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner Vikram Kumar tabled a inflated draft budget 2021-22 of Rs 7650 crore today. The budget is Rs 1421 crore more as compared to last year’s budget. PMC has given thrust on public private partnership and CSR funds for city development.

The PMC Commissioner mentioned taking the help of private players in the budget. “PMC has decided to take financial assistance from private players of more than Rs 500 crore for the various development works. It will include road and garden development work”, he said.

According to the civic body chief, PMC collected Rs 3250 crore revenue till 15 January 2021. He has anticipated a rise of Rs 1000 crore in coming two and half months.

Despite lack of revenue collection, the corporation drafted a budget of Rs 7650 crore. PMC had anticipated about Rs 1985 crore from GST in 2021-22. Commissioner has set a target of Rs 2356 crore for the property tax department. Corporation had got only Rs 300 crore of revenue from building permission and development. This year, the commissioner has given a target of Rs 780 crore. Besides that, PMC has announced to take Rs 300 crore loan for the development work.

 Rs 2928 crore allocated for capital and development work

Corporation will develop a road with the help of Public Private Partnership (PPP) for Rs 581 crore. Corporation will use credit notes option for the development. Note will be used in the five years tenure.

The civic body has identified five roads for development with the help of credit notes. PMC will use private funds for road development as well as for garden development like Sarasbaug and Peshwe Udyan.
