Shivajinagar, September 14, 2020: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients at the Jumbo Hospital, located at the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) ground, are now able to call their family members, thanks to the video call facility launched by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
PMC Mayor Murlidhar Mohol said that the facility has been started keeping in mind the problem faced by the relatives of COVID patients. “The number of beds at the Jumbo facility should be rapidly increased, and video calling facilities should be made available here given the increasing prevalence of the Coronavirus”, he said.
Relatives of the patients have availed this facility with more than 200 plus video calls so far. They are expressing satisfaction as the facility allows them to interact with their loved ones directly.
The communication system is equipped with video conferencing via a tablet phone, arranged by the PMC. Mayor Mohol and officials also interacted with some relatives and patients through video conference. “Patients are allowed to video call their families once a day”, he added.
Meanwhile, the mayor took a review of the patients as to whether they were receiving proper treatment, whether they were being taken care of, and asked them for feedback about the facility.
