Mohammadwadi, 7th May 2026: The long-pending Pune Equitable Water Supply Scheme covering Mohammadwadi, Dorabjee Paradise, NIBM, Krishna Nagar, Corinthians and Jarande Nagar is finally nearing completion, bringing relief to nearly five lakh residents in these rapidly growing areas.

Once considered a delayed project despite achieving nearly 95 per cent completion, the scheme has now gained momentum, with civic authorities accelerating the final phase of work to ensure regular water supply in the region.

According to officials, the entire 23-km transmission pipeline network and all eight Elevated Service Reservoirs (ESRs) under the project have been successfully commissioned. In addition, a 1.5-km distribution pipeline connected to the outlet of the 3 ML Dorabjee Paradise ESR has also been commissioned successfully.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials said the remaining distribution work is progressing at full pace and water supply in different parts of the region will be rolled out gradually over the next month.

PMC Additional Commissioner Pavneet Kaur said the original target was to start supplying water to the tanks by May 15. “We have already started water distribution from today,” she informed.

Residents of Mohammadwadi, NIBM and adjoining areas have been facing water supply challenges for several years due to rapid urbanisation and dependence on private water tankers. The commissioning of the project is expected to significantly improve water availability and reduce dependence on alternative sources.
