Pune: PMC Takes Action Against 353 Persons Spitting In Public Spaces, Recovers Fine Of Over Rs Three Lakh
Pune, 23rd January 2023: For the past 10 days, the civic administration has prosecuted 353 individuals for spitting in public and has amassed over Rs 3.5 lakh in fines. The initiative was initiated by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) before last week’s G20 summit discussions.
The local body had collected Rs 1.23 lakh in fines from 123 people in the first three days of the drive. The city body has now decided to keep up the campaign against those who spit on the street and other public areas.
Authorities state that the drive will ensure that the city stays clean. Meanwhile, residents have also shown support for the initiative and have encouraged more action.
