Pune, November 24, 2020: Considering the spike in Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will be taking strict actions against hotels, restaurants, malls, shops, and other permitted establishments that are not following the guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID19.

In this regard, a special ‘flying squad’ has been set up which will visit the permitted establishments and check whether the protocols of social distancing and sanitization are being followed or not. If it is found that the rules are not being followed, strict action will be taken, stated an order issued PMC Additional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal.

A total of 15 squads has been set up with each squad consisting of 4 members -2 members from the health department and 2 police personnel. The squad has been formed at the ward level. This decision was taken after a meeting between PMC and Pune police officials.

Speaking to Punekarnews.in, PMC Additional Municipal Commissioner Agarwal said, “We have been observing that social distancing rules are not being followed in many areas of Pune. So as a preventive measure we have formed this squad which will take action as per the law.”
