Pune: PMC Undertakes Extensive Pre-Monsoon Cleaning, Disaster Preparedness And Launches Helpline Numbers
Pune, 15th June 2023: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is engaged in carrying out comprehensive pre-monsoon preparations, which encompass crucial tasks such as cleaning drainage lines, sewage systems, stormwater drains, and repairing chambers. In anticipation of monsoon-related contingencies, the PMC has established dedicated disaster management cells to swiftly address any potential issues.
To ensure the smooth flow of water, PMC has completed cleaning operations at all 95 critical spots within the drainage system. Likewise, out of the total 382 culverts, 382 have undergone thorough cleaning. Extensive cleaning of 165 kilometers of drainage systems has also been carried out. Special attention has been given to prevent water accumulation on city roads, leading to the removal of 48,000 chambers from existing locations. Additionally, 184 kilometers of monsoon lines have been meticulously cleaned. Furthermore, new rainwater chambers are being installed along footpaths to facilitate efficient drainage. All critical spots, culverts, drainage systems, stormwater chambers, and pipes have been effectively cleaned and maintained.

Moreover, in order to promptly address any complaints received, especially during nighttime, junior and branch engineers have been appointed to oversee the resolution process under the disaster management framework. Disaster management cells have been established at each field office, and emergency personnel are on duty during night shifts to ensure effective response and assistance.
