Pune: PMC Water Supply Department Collects Rs 28.43 Crore  Pending Bills

Pune, 3rd August 2021: The water supply department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started the recovery of water bill arrears. In the current financial year, the department has collected nine crore rupees more than last year.

Many citizens in the city, especially those with commercial use, have arrears of water bills. The department has initiated efforts to recover the arrears to increase the revenue of the PMC. For this, the department has also announced ‘Abhay Yojna’.

Speaking about this, Aniruddha Pawaskar, Head of the Water Supply Department of PMC, said, “In the last financial year, the department received about Rs 19.19 crore by the end of July. This year, the department has collected Rs 28.43 crore which is more than last year. The department has implemented a special campaign for this, and the Abhay Yojna will speed up in the coming week.”

Pawaskar also mentioned that in the last eight days, about Rs 4.15 crore arrears have been received. Pune and Khadki Cantonment Boards also have arrears of about Rs 20 crore. The overall arrears are about Rs 200 crores. For the recovery of the arrear, the department has appointed teams in six divisions.
