Pune: PMPML Electric Bus Project Gets Financial Boost with Rs 4.8 Crore Incentive
Pune, 24th November 2025: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal (PMPML) is set to receive an incentive fund of Rs 4.8 crore from the Maharashtra government to support its electric bus fleet, boosting environment-friendly public transport in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the PMRDA area.
The corporation’s 490 electric buses, procured on a GCC basis, have already contributed to reducing air pollution and carbon emissions in the region. These air-conditioned e-buses are currently being operated at affordable rates, providing passengers with a cleaner and economical travel option.
Under the Maharashtra Government’s Electric Vehicle Policy, maximum incentives are provided for e-buses. PMPML had initially demanded Rs 98 crore from the Transport Commissioner for its 490 buses. While the corporation had earlier received Rs 3.2 crore, it re-submitted a request for the remaining amount.
Following a direct discussion on Monday, 24th November, between PMPML Chairman and Managing Director Pankaj Deore and Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar, the government approved the release of Rs 4.8 crore.
