Pune: PMPML Headquarters Site to Become MahaMetro’s New ‘Hub Center’
Swargate, 21st May 2025: In a landmark move to bolster Pune’s public transportation infrastructure, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will develop a modern integrated transport hub at its current headquarters site in Swargate. The existing PMPML building will be demolished to make way for this cutting-edge ‘Hub Center,’ a joint project with Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MahaMetro).
The proposed hub will span around three and a half acres and combine facilities to enhance commuter convenience and operational efficiency. Features will include air-conditioned waiting lounges, ample seating, online ticketing counters, dedicated bus bays, parking, and food and retail outlets, all designed to streamline travel experiences.
Besides accommodating PMPML’s administrative offices, the hub will also house the bus maintenance headquarters, consolidating operations in one central location. PMPML will temporarily relocate its administrative functions during the construction period. The corporation will contribute approximately 4.5 percent of the total project cost.
Deepa Mudhol-Munde, Managing Director and Chairperson of PMPML, stated that this initiative marks a significant step toward creating a seamless public transport system for Pune.
