Pune 30th Sept 2023: Considering the growing demand of passengers to go cashless for tickets, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has finally announced to start the UPI payment service from October 3. The decision to start the service for all the buses in the city was taken after a successful trial conducted in the last 15 days.

According to PMPML, the passengers can now make payment for tickets using the UPI payment option from October 3. The service will be officially launched by guardian minister Chandrakant Patil and Chairman and Managing Director of PMPML Sachchindra Pratap Sing at an event on October 1 at Kothrud depot. The trial for the service was conducted between September 16 and September 30 to ensure smooth operation after the official launch.

In a meeting held on September 3, Central Bank of India and Ebix company that provides e-ticketing machines to PMPML were instructed to make e-payment options available in the e-ticketing machines for passengers to make online payment. The passengers can now ask for QR code to the conductor to make online payment for tickets and the service will be available for all types of UPI payments. According to officials, the new service will not have any impact on the previous practices followed by PMPML. The new service will further ease the problems over change while purchasing tickets in the buses.
