Pune, 17th April 2025: In line with the Maharashtra State Government’s 100-day action plan, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) organised a specialised workshop on artificial intelligence (AI) for its officers and staff on Thursday. The training aimed to demonstrate how AI and related technologies can streamline administrative processes and improve operational efficiency within the authority.

The workshop, held at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Auditorium in Akurdi, featured expert guidance from Dr. Ajit Gagare, Assistant Professor at Savitribai Phule Pune University’s Media and Communication Department. Dr. Gagare covered fundamental AI concepts, machine learning, data analytics, and practical AI tools relevant to public administration. He also addressed queries from participants on integrating AI to simplify PMRDA’s workflows.

Senior officials, including Additional Commissioner Poonam Mehta, Deputy Commissioner Kiran Kumar Kakade, Sub-Divisional Officer Dr. Deepti Suryavanshi-Patil, Chief Fire Officer Devendra Phadphode, and Superintendent Engineer Shivprasad Bagdi, attended the session. This initiative aligns with Maharashtra’s broader push to adopt AI-driven governance models, as seen in recent collaborations with technology firms and government bodies to modernise public service delivery and infrastructure planning.
