Pune: PMRDA Fixes Accountability for 148 km of Roads on Contractors
Pune, 6th December 2024: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has assigned responsibility for the maintenance and repair of 148 kilometers of roads within its jurisdiction to contractors. This directive is in accordance with the defect liability period, ensuring accountability for the quality of road construction. The list of roads covered under this agreement has been published by PMRDA, and contractors face action if reported road issues are not promptly addressed.
PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase issued orders emphasizing immediate implementation. “Road repairs and maintenance during the defect liability period of three to five years will be the responsibility of the contractors. Citizens can report complaints about poor road conditions via the PMRDA website, and prompt action is expected,” Dr. Mhase stated.
The PMRDA oversees development in 814 villages across a geographical area of 7,000 square kilometers. This decision aims to maintain high-quality road infrastructure. Should any road deteriorate during the liability period, contractors are obligated to conduct immediate repairs.
Since 2019, PMRDA has developed 148 kilometers of roads through contractors in various talukas:
Haveli: 26.3 km
Shirur: 35.5 km
Purandar: 22.1 km
Maval: 14.53 km
Khed: 15.24 km
Mulshi: 14 km
Bhor: 7.25 km
