Pune, 14th February 2024: Monika Singh, a bureaucrat in the Maharashtra government, is recognized not only for her administrative prowess but also for her significant contributions to Urdu poetry, particularly in the genre of Ghazals.

On February 13th, she assumed the role of Additional Collector in Solapur District, following her transfer from the position of Joint Commissioner at the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). This transition occurred after the transfer of Tushar Thombre, the former Additional Collector of Solapur, leaving the position vacant.

Monika holds a Master’s degree in History and Urdu Literature. As a poet in Urdu literature, she has authored notable works such as “Lams,” “Shahar Ke Khwaab,” and “Baat Baaki Hai.” In accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and as a standard protocol preceding the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, numerous bureaucrats, including senior police officers, are undergoing transfers.

Monika successfully cleared the Maharashtra Public Service Commission’s examination in the Sub-Divisional Magistrate vertical in 2002, marking her entry into the prestigious State Administrative Service. Before assuming her current role, she served as a Sub-Divisional Officer in Pune, Kolhapur, and Satara districts. During the 2019 general elections, Monika also worked as an Assistant Electoral Officer in the Satara Lok Sabha constituency.

In anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Kumar Ashirwad, the Solapur District Collector, will be responsible for conducting the Loksabha Election in the Solapur Lok Sabha constituency, while Monika, now serving as the Additional Collector in Solapur, will undertake Election responsibility for the Madha Constituency.
