Pune: PMRDA Sets 8-Day Deadline For Departments to Submit 20-Year Development Plans
Pune, 1st September 2026: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has stepped up work on its proposed structural plan for the planned and sustainable development of the Pune metropolitan region, directing all concerned government departments to submit details of their existing, approved and proposed projects within eight days.
PMRDA metropolitan commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhary issued the directions on Tuesday during a coordination meeting of heads of various government departments at the authority’s headquarters in Akurdi. The departments have also been asked to submit their plans and land requirements for the next 20 years.
The meeting was attended by additional metropolitan commissioner K Manjulakshmi, director of the development permission department Avinash Patil, metropolitan planner Smita Kalkutki and deputy metropolitan planner Saurabh Patil, along with officials from the zilla parishad, municipal corporations, police, MIDC, water resources department, public works department, tourism department, Mahatransco, Pune Metro, PMPML and the road development corporation.
A presentation on the proposed structural plan was made during the meeting, followed by discussions on inter-departmental coordination and technical aspects of the plan.
Chaudhary said the information received from various departments would form the basis of future planning and therefore needed to be verified and certified by the respective department heads.
“Information received from various departments is the core of the planning process. Therefore, department heads should personally verify and certify the information before submitting it so that there are no errors in future planning,” he said.
The PMRDA commissioner also directed every department to immediately appoint a nodal officer for coordinating the collection and sharing of information.
To prevent unauthorised persons from collecting or sharing data, all correspondence and data exchange related to the structural plan will have to be carried out only through authorised channels and designated officials.
Government agencies have also been asked to submit details of projects they intend to undertake and their land requirements, keeping in mind the region’s development over the next 20 years.
The PMRDA administration said coordination among all government agencies would be crucial to expedite preparation of the structural plan and urged departments to submit the required information to the authority’s planning department at the earliest.
