Pune: PMRDA to Acquire Land for Road Widening to Ease Hinjawadi Traffic Congestion; Review Meeting Held with Local Farmers
Hinjawadi, 17th July 2025: In a major move to address the growing traffic congestion in Hinjawadi and nearby areas, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has initiated the process of land acquisition for the widening of six key roads in the region. A review meeting was held on Wednesday with the farmers affected by the proposed development.
The planned road expansion is expected to provide significant relief to commuters while accelerating regional development. During the meeting, PMRDA officials outlined the land acquisition framework and discussed the implementation strategy with the farmers. Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase personally addressed the concerns of farmers and local business owners, ensuring clarity and resolving doubts.

Efforts to ease congestion in the Hinjawadi region include multiple strategies, with road widening being a top priority. PMRDA assured that land acquisition will be carried out through coordination and open dialogue with the concerned farmers.
The meeting was attended by Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Deepak Singla, Chief Engineer Rinaj Pathan, among other key officials.
