Pune: PMRDA To Seek Scrapping Of TP Schemes If 50% Of Farmers Oppose Them
Pune, 26th October 2026: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will recommend scrapping town planning (TP) schemes in villages where at least 50% of farmers oppose them and the gram panchayats pass resolutions against the projects, metropolitan commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari has assured.
The assurance came amid protests by farmers and local representatives from six Maval villages — Salumbre, Darumbre, Godumbre, Parandwadi, Dhamane and Sangavade — against the proposed TP schemes and the 65-metre-wide inner ring road.
Chaudhari said landowners could submit signed applications seeking cancellation. The authority would then initiate the legal process to forward a formal recommendation to the state government.
The PMRDA’s final structural plan will specify the revised width. Existing zone certificates mentioning 110 metres will be amended after the plan receives approval.
Chaudhari assured landowners that acquired land would receive fair valuation and full cash compensation. Those who voluntarily consent to acquisition would be eligible for additional compensation.
The authority will also prepare phased development plans for areas along the proposed road, including provisions for urban amenities and planned development sectors.
