Pune: Police And Military Intelligence Bust Fake Army Recruitment Racket

Pune, November 1, 2020: In a joint operation, Military Intelligence (MI), Pune City Police Crime Branch and Pune cyber cell today busted a fake Army recruitment racket during Common Entrance Exam (CEE) at Army Institute of Physical Training (AIPT) grounds, Pune-Solapur road, Wanowrie. The accused has cheated about 30 candidates till now.

One tout Vain Singh, a resident of Ajmer in Rajasthan, along with his accomplices and one serving Army Jawan (clerk) Jaidev Singh Parihar from the Army recruitment office, was apprehended by Pune Police Crime Branch based on the specific inputs from the MI. A total of 13 original school documents, admit cards were recovered from their possession. The accused had duped around 30 candidates in two batches, promising them of assured selection in the army in lieu of Rs 3-4 lakhs each where the Army persons were getting their share from the tout.

An FIR is being registered at Wanowrie police station, Pune city. The investigation is on to apprehend other linked members of the fake recruitment racket, officials said.

DCP (Crime Branch) Bachchan Singh said,  “An information regarding army recruitment scam for today’s exam at AIPT was received from military authorities. Acting jointly with a military intelligence team, unit-2 and 5 officers detained suspects Jaidev Singh Parihar and Vel Singh Rawat and interrogated them. He promised the job aspirants and had also roped in one Ravindra Rathod to tutor the aspirants. We have confiscated the documents of aspirants.”

He further added, “Involvement of these suspects in other recruitments as well as involvement of more people is being probed. Unit 5 crime branch is investigating further.”
