Pune Police Arrest Three Persons For Cheating Youths At Army Relation Recruitment Exam

Pune, 2 March 2021: A joint team of the Military Intelligence (MI) and Pune City Police have nabbed three persons who cheated youths under the pretext of helping them get recruited in the Army through corrupt practices. The accused took Rs 2-3 lakh from each candidate.

Acting on a tip-off from the MI, Crime Branch Unit 4 has arrested Ali Akhtar Khan (47) and Azad Lalmahmad Khan (37), both are natives of Uttar Pradesh who lived in Ganeshnagar, Bopkhel and Mahendra Chandrabhan Sonawane, a native of Ahmednagar district who lived in Dighi. Khan is a civil defence cook at the Bombay Sappers. Akhtar and Sonawane are Ex-Servicemen.

An FIR has been registered against them at Vishrantwadi police station. The accused had taken Rs one lakh advance as well as original documents of the complainant, who is a native of Sangli district.

A judicial magistrate court has remanded the accused persons to police custody till March 6. Police Sub Inspector Dipak Mane is further investigating the case.

“The accused persons had promised to provide question papers on WhatsApp to candidates”, a police officer said.

The action was taken under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta, Joint Commissioner Ravindra Shisve, Additional Commissioner (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (Crime) Shriniwas Ghadge and ACP Laxman Borate.

The team included Senior Police Inspector Rajnish Nirmal, Assitant Police Inspector Sandip Jamdade, Police Sub Inspector Jaideep Patil, Dipak Mane, Shashikant Shinde, ASI Mahendra Pawar, and police personnel Sachin Dhavle, Ganesh Salunkhe, Pravin Bhalchim, Surendra Sable and Shital Shinde.
