Pune Police Book 20 Ganesh Mandals For Noise Pollution Violation During Ganesh Visarjan

Pune 5th Oct 2023: The Pune Police have taken action against Ganesh Mandals for violating the noise pollution norms during the Ganesh visarjan in the city. The city police has booked 20 Ganesh Mandals for violation and cases have been registered at different police stations across the city.

According to officials, the cases were registered after comprehensive analysis of noise levels recorded on September 28 in the different parts of city. The cases have been registered for violations at police stations in Faraskhana, Kothrud, Khadki, Warje-Malwadi, Sahkarnagar, Vimantal, Chandanagar, Uttamnagar, Hadapsar, Loni Kand, Loni Kalbhor, Wanawadi, Yerawada and Kondhwa.

The official of the special branch of the city police hinted that more cases will be registered as the details of violation comes in. The College of Engineering Pune had recorded the noise levels on the processions routes in the city on visarjan day and had recorded an average noise of 105 decibels in the city.

According to police, the cases have been registered under sections 290, 291, 188, 283 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with sections 7 and 15 of the Environment Protection Act and section 3,4 and 5 of the Noise Pollution Act. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
