Pune Police Constable’s bike stolen from outside Commissioner’s office, No CCTV cameras installed

Pune, August 9, 2019 : A police constable has lodged FIR with Bundgraden police station stating that his bike was stolen from outside the office of Pune police commissioner on August 3. The cops are finding it difficult to trace the thief as there are no CCTV cameras outside the gate 3,  which is used by people and junior police officers and police personnel enter the premises.

Sameer Chavan has filed the complaint in this regard. He was on night duty and parked the bike around 9 pm on August 3. When he came out around 4 am on the next day and he found that his bike was stolen.

Senior police inspector Sunil Tambe, in-charge of Bundgarden police station, said that they are trying trace the stolen bike. The CCTV footage of adjacent church is being analysed.

Police Commissioner Dr K Venkatesham has launched ambitious project to have 1 lakh CCTV cameras installed outside shops, housing societies. People are being appealed to install cameras. However, people are questioning now why there are no cameras outside the commissioner office, when funds for them are available.
