Pune Police Ease Weekend Entry Rules for RMC Mixer Vehicles
Pune, 27th July 2026: The Pune City Traffic Police have permitted ready-mix concrete (RMC) mixer vehicles to enter and operate across the city, including designated red zones, between 6 am and 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays without prior permission.
The relaxation was announced in an order dated July 25, 2026, as part of measures to facilitate construction activity while ensuring road safety and smooth traffic movement.
“RMC vehicles will be allowed to operate within Pune city limits, including red zones, on Saturdays and Sundays from 6 am to 5 pm without obtaining prior permission,” the order issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr Sandeep Bhajibhakare stated.
The order will initially be implemented on an experimental basis and may be modified depending on traffic conditions, public interest and administrative requirements.
RMC vehicles must be equipped with driver-assistance systems such as 360-degree cameras, rear-view cameras and reverse-parking sensors, or must have a cleaner or driver’s assistant accompanying the vehicle.
Every RMC plant operator must also keep the testing equipment specified in the order and ensure that vehicles are checked before leaving the plant.
The traffic police clarified that the relaxation applies only to RMC mixer vehicles required for construction work. It does not alter or relax existing traffic regulations governing dumpers, trucks and other heavy goods vehicles.
Contractors, developers, vehicle owners, drivers and other organisations concerned have been directed to comply strictly with the conditions. Violators will face legal action under the Motor Vehicles Act, the Maharashtra Police Act and other applicable laws.
