Pune Police File Chargesheet in Molestation Case Within 24 Hours

Baner, 18th March 2025: The Pune Police have filed a chargesheet in a molestation case within an unprecedented 24 hours. This swift action follows the arrest of 27-year-old Yogesh Shrikrushna Avchar, a resident of Mhalunge, on 17th March at 6:44 PM.

The case, registered at Baner Police Station, involves a 46-year-old woman from Baner who reported being stalked and threatened by Avchar from October 2023 until the day of his arrest. The accused allegedly followed her near her residence and clinic, making threatening statements, including warnings against filing a police complaint.

According to Senior Police Inspector Navnath Jagtap, the investigation was completed within 20 hours, and the chargesheet was submitted to the Pune District Court in Shivajinagar, which accepted it and remanded the accused to judicial custody.

The investigation was led by Police Sub-Inspector Rajshree Patil under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Navnath Jagtap, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Khadki Division) Vithal Dabade, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav told Punekar News, “This type of action is rare. Last month, Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar directed us to conduct quick investigations in such sensitive cases. The nature of this case and other factors made it possible for us to achieve the milestone of submitting the chargesheet within 24 hours under the guidance of CP sir. Even in future cases, we will strive to conduct thorough investigations and submit the chargesheet as soon as possible.”
