Pune Police Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Firearms After Shooting Incident On Salman Khan’s Residence
Pune, 17th April 2024: After a shooting incident occurred near actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai, authorities initiated a search for criminals in Pune City. On Tuesday (16th April), gang members charged with illegal weapon possession under the Arms Act of 1959 were called to the Pune Police Commissionerate and issued a strong warning. Several police stations across the city have registered cases against individuals found with illegal firearms.
Cases have been registered across various police stations in the city against individuals possessing illegal pistols. On Tuesday, a group of history-sheeters who have faced similar charges over the past five years were called to the Pune Police Commissionerate for questioning. In the last five years, 614 notorious individuals have been charged with illegal weapon possession, and around 150 to 200 history sheeters were summoned to the Police Commissionerate to receive a stern warning.
Crime Branch officials gathered information on the notorious individuals, including details about their residences, associates, and family members. The police emphasized that any shooting incidents in the city would not be tolerated, and urged anyone with knowledge of illegal weapons to report it immediately. Informants’ identities would be kept confidential. The Police Commissioner directed Crime Branch officers to closely monitor individuals charged with possessing pistols.
