Pune Police Lathicharge Katraj Residents Protesting Merger With PMC
Katraj, 19th April 2022: A group of villagers who had been sitting on a fast unto death protest for the last two days against the merger of their village with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), were dispersed by police today.
The protest was led by Namesh Babar at the Katraj Chowk. The residents have alleged that even after 25 years of the merger of Katraj with the PMC, people are still deprived of the basic facilities.
People from Katraj as well as Mangdewadi, Bhilarewadi and Gujar-Nimbalkarwadi also participated in the protest.
People alleged that PMC has not provided proper infrastructure, education, hospital or transport facilities in the area.
