Pune, 12th February 2025: In an effort to enhance police visibility and ensure rapid response to emergencies, Pune City Police is set to launch the ‘Cop 24’ initiative on 15th February. The initiative, aimed at strengthening law enforcement presence on city roads, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Under the ‘Cop 24’ program, 123 two-wheelers and 39 patrol cars equipped with GPS technology will be deployed across the city. This GPS integration will allow the crime branch to monitor and manage beat marshals in real time, ensuring greater accountability and minimizing negligence during duty. The police personnel assigned to this initiative have already completed specialized training.

A key feature of the initiative includes the use of body cameras on all beat marshals’ uniforms. These cameras will record interactions at crime scenes, offering transparency and reducing the chances of false accusations against officers. Conversely, any misconduct by police personnel will also be traceable through these recordings.

In a move to address women’s safety concerns, female beat marshals will be specifically deployed to handle complaints received by female through the police helpline. This approach aims to create a more comfortable environment for women to report issues, ensuring their grievances are addressed with sensitivity and prompt action.
