Pune, January 18, 2021: Pune police will be tightening the night patrolling exercise in the city now. Seven roads entering the city have been targeted and will be inspected suddenly once a week. This will enable police to catch and punish miscreants who run away at night and come to the city.
 
Crimes of burglary and vehicle theft are rampant in the city. Many times closed flats are being broken into at night. Thieves have been found driving around the city in stolen cars. It has been reported many times that the thief was leaving the city in the same car after committing the crime. Night patrols in Pune are currently led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police. Each Assistant Commissioner of Police has an Inspector of Police and a Beat Marshal patrolling the police station. But with this new patrol plan, Pune’s boundaries will be tightened. The city’s seven main thoroughfares will be patrolled once a week. Therefore, the criminals who come and go on this road will be punished.
 
Satara Road, Baner Road, Solapur Road, Old Pune-Mumbai Road, Nagar Road, Sinhagad Road and Saswad Road entering the city will be blocked by night patrols. One officer and three employees of the transport branch will be posted at this place. There will also be two gunmen from headquarters at the blockade site. Officers assigned to this mission will have a pistol.
 
In this investigation, the police will check suspicious vehicles only. Care will be taken to not cause any inconvenience to vehicles carrying children and women. Drivers should check the documents. Police inspectors from the main control room will monitor the night patrol. Officers on night patrol in the city will also visit the spot and report it to the control room.
 
One of the seven roads in the city to be blocked at night. For this, a tent, chairs, batteries and other equipment will be brought from the headquarters to the blockade area. The equipment will be brought back to the headquarters after 5 am. Transportation branch officials will also provide barricades, LED batons at the scene. Transportation staff will use it. A report on the blockade that day will be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner the next evening.
