Pune Police traffic branch constable dies of Coronavirus

Pune, May 21, 2020: Coronavirus has spread on a large scale in Pune. Therefore, those who work in the essential services as Corona warriors are facing a big crisis. Another policeman died in Pune today. Therefore, there is an atmosphere of concern among the Pune police.

“Police Constable Deepak Sawant (42) from Pune Traffic Department lost his life today while battling Coronavirus. Pune Police prays for his soul to rest in peace and offers condolences to the bereaved family”, Pune City Police tweeted.

On May 8, he was admitted to Sassoon Hospital with cough and respiratory problems. He was admitted to Bharati Hospital on May 9 after his swab sample tested positive for COVID19. However, he passed away today (May 21) at around 11.30 am. He was a resident of Maharashtra Housing Board in Yerwada.

So far, 22 police personnel in the city have been infected with the corona. Two of them have died during treatment. Earlier in Pune, a 58-year-old assistant sub inspector Dilip Londhe of Faraskhana police station died while undergoing treatment for COVID19 at Bharati Hospital. He was on ventilator for 12 days. He suffered from hypertension and obesity also.
