Pune: Policeman, His Brother Beat Doctor At Covid Care Centre
Pune, 1st June 202: A police constable from Unit 3 of the Pune city police crime branch along with his brother beat up a security guard and a doctor at Covid Hospital in Baner. A case has been registered against Naik Sachin Siddheshwar Gaikwad (40) and his brother Sagar Siddheshwar Gaikwad (35) at Chaturshringi Police Station. Dr Ajayshree Adhikrao Maskar (25) has filed the complaint.
On Monday around 1.30 pm, Dr Ajayshree was sitting in the office of Dedicated Covid Care Centre at Baner. At that time Sagar Gaikwad came to his office. He said that he was the nephew of Praveen Jadhav, a patient admitted to Covid Care Centre. Sagar violently went towards the Doctor and asked “Why don’t you pick up our phone?” after this, he insulted the doctor and his staff. He also beat up a security guard.
After the incident, Dr Ajayshree along with other staff and PMC security guards had gone to Baner police chowky to file a complaint. While informing the police personnel about the incident, accused Sagar Gaikwad and Sachin Gaikwad entered the police chowky and started beating them again. Ajit Gajmal, a security officer who was trying to mediate, was also beaten by the two accused, the complaint stated.
Senior Police Inspector Rajkumar Waghchawre said that an FIR has been registered and further investigation is going on.
