Koregaon Park, 20th May 2024: Following concerns raised by locals about bars serving liquor to minors, the Pune Excise Department has filed chargesheets against two bar owners for allegedly serving alcohol to minors and failing to comply with necessary regulatory requirements.

The first chargesheet has been filed against Sagar Chordia of Panchshil Infrastructure, which operates the Blak Club at Marriott Suites in Koregaon Park.

According to the chargesheet, the Excise Department verified CCTV footage from the bar dated between 17th May 2024 and 19th May 2024. The footage reportedly shows instances where liquor was served to underage patrons. During an inspection, the bar staff failed to produce essential registers related to Excise norms, which are required for compliance. Furthermore, the list of authorized bar attendants, known as the Naukarnama, was not presented to the excise inspector.

According to the Pune Police investigation, builder Vishal Agarwal’s minor son had partied at the Blak Club before the accident in Kalyani Nagar which killed two persons. The incident took place around 3 am on Sunday when he was driving the Porsche sports car at over 150 km per hour speed.

In a separate incident, a chargesheet has also been filed against Prahlad Bhutada of Trilium Securities, located in Ghorpadi, Pune. The chargesheet reveals that CCTV footage from 17th May 2024 showed minors being served alcohol at the establishment. Similar to the first case, the bar staff did not produce the necessary registers for the FL3 inspection, which are mandated by Excise norms. Additionally, it was found that liquor was served to customers without proper licenses, and the list of authorized bar attendants was not provided to the excise inspector.
